LTA  Accredited Mini Tennis Centre

Junior Class What is Mini Tennis?

Mini Tennis is the LTA Traffic Lights colour-coded system specially designed
for children under 11 years old. The game is split into 3 stages: Red, Orange and Green.

Children of 4 years old start in
Red groups and progress through Orange to Green as their skills improve. In the process, the court size, racket
length, ball speed and the length of games all increase until players are ready to move on to the full game of tennis.

An approximate age guide is as follows :-
Red
         4 -   7 yrs old
Orange    7 -
   9 yrs old
Green      9 - 11 yrs
old

Regular group lessons allow young players to learn the skills and tactics of tennis. They will also get the chance to compete against each another.

Ariel Mini Tennis Awards

As an Accredited Mini Tennis Centre we are able to offer children the chance to gain The Ariel Mini Tennis Awards. They provide a course of activities for each stage plus stickers, certificates and prizes for players.

Teams

We enter Red, Orange and Green Teams in to the West Yorkshire Mini Tennis Leagues playing against other Mini Tennis Accredited Clubs. This gives the opportunity for our pupils to represent Wakefield and to learn  to compete in matches and competitions.

The aims of playing Mini Tennis are fun, learning, excitement, success,
competition and social interaction. Everything else is a bonus!
